Brisk Me Away

13 weeks old

Old Hank is continuing to grow...with the summer months upon us we are having lots of new experiences. See below for a few things we did this past week, and don't forget to look at my last post of Henry's 3 month pictures, too!
Now that Henry can hold his head up pretty steadily, we put him forward facing in the Bjorn. I think this is so cute how he is just big enough to peek over the edge and can suck on the material. :) Steven has been using this a lot for walks around the neighborhood.
.

Henry has also started "playing" with toys lately...basically we put a toy between his hands and his mouth, and the toy makes it in his mouth by default as he is going to put his hands in his mouth.

Well, I am not sure how to rotate this picture, but you can get the idea. I put Henry on our bed everyday and he just stares down the fan. He "talks" to it and kicks his feet over and over.

My best friend Abby from TN came for a visit on Thursday with her two kiddos. It is still pretty crazy to think that we are both moms...we were kids together not that long ago! I met Abby when I was in 6th grade, so if I am counting right that means we have known each other for almost 20 years. HA! That sounds like something an old person would say! I am so glad we have stayed close through all the changes in our lives.

Henry and me with her cute kiddos....Ava and Graham. Thanks for the visit, guys!! We had fun!!

These pictures below are just of my sweet baby talking to me after eating on afternoon. He was feelin' good!!

I just think these are funny of his legs. He can do all kinds of crazy contortions!

Steven cuddling 2 of his favorites!

We put up our "pool" over the weekend...I use that term lightly, because it is basically just a glorified baby pool, but I love it. My float fits in it and I can get cooled off when it's hot out, and that's all I need! I will have a real pool someday, but until then this will have to suffice. :) I got to be the one to introduce Henry to the pool, and he did great!

How can a 0-3 month swimsuit fit so well but a 0-3 month hat look so ridiculously big??

We're working on some serious rolls here....and when I say we I mean Henry of course. Ahem.

Lovin' it!

There is just something so cute about a baby in a swimsuit, isn't there?

Especially THIS baby.

He's pretty proud of himself anyway!

And last but not least, here is Henry spending some time with his Daddy-o.

3 Months!

Henry turned 3 months old a couple of days ago! This past month has been my favorite yet with so many changes going on in Henry's life. He is so sweet, and his little personality is truly coming out  now. Let's see....what things stand out right now about Henry. He sleeps through the night with no problem. We still swaddle him and put him to bed between 10-11 and he sleeps til 6ish. He has woken up around 4:30 probably 4-5 times, and we walk/bounce him back to sleep until a more appropriate wake up time:) After he wakes up and I feed him, Henry goes right back to sleep and stays in bed with me. We cuddle til like 9, and I try not to feel guilty about that, because I know it will not last...I will be going back to work soon enough! He naps kind of sporadically in the morning after that, but has been taking a 3-4 hour nap in the afternoon starting at 2. It is awesome!
He eats great...never refuses to eat! He still goes about 3 hours in between feedings, and now when I take a break to burp him half way through, he looks at me and gives a big grin as if to say, "Thanks for feeding me, Mom!" He rarely spits up. He still has crazy hair...strip of long dark hair is still at the  nape of his neck, while it is quite thin everywhere else! He smiles and coos all the time, loves to stare at the fan and lights and kick his legs, and will follow us around with his eyes. We do this "crossing the midline" thing with him that is suppose to be good for brain development and connecting the left and right brain in preparation for reading someday. He can be a very focused boy when he wants to be! He has started to "play" with toys a bit...mostly just chews on little stuffed animals when we give them to him. He is still in some 0-3 month clothing, but barely! He is wearing some 3-6 month stuff, too.
Henry still does not like the paci, but takes a bottle fine. He sucks on his hand a lot, but does not ever find a finger or thumb. He kind of sucks his knuckles and will suck our arm while we hold him. He loves sitting in the Bumbo and is officially holding his head up! One of our main dilemmas is that he is not a fan of riding in the car. It is not the car seat (he is fine sitting in that outside of the car). As soon as we put him in the car and start to back out of the driveway, he starts to cry. We ride back there with him some to try to calm him down, and Steven says Henry looks him straight in the eye as the tears roll down his cheeks as if to say, "Do something! I know you can!" :) His Daddy does NOT like to see him cry.
Welp, those are some of the highlights. Boring to most, but important to us!:) Most people say Henry seems like a pretty laid back baby, and I would agree. He is pretty chill about most things, and I hope that continues.
We love you Henry and love watching you grow. You are a sweetheart and a real joy in our lives.
Steven put Henry's arm around Bunky here:)

Still looking pretty small in that big ol' chair.

But Henry has officially outgrown Bunky.

The sweet smile that we get to see all the time!

He looks so long in this one!

Henry is growing too fast for my liking. Sometimes I feel like it is all happening right before my very eyes, but I am missing it all at the same time! Kind of like I am having an out of body experience or something. I have to remind myself to take in every moment, to make a mental picture of these times in Henry's life, because they are fleeting, they are momentary, but, oh, they are so sweet! I hope you enjoy the pictures below as much as I do.

This is Henry's nightly greeting to Steven when he comes home from work.

It is so sweet watching them interact.

This boy LOVES his Daddy.

Maggie got a hot spot this week that she would not leave alone. It kept getting worse and worse so I had to take her to the vet and get a "cone of shame" for her....poor girl. She looks pitiful, doesn't she?? She is doing much better now, though, and nothing is hurt now except her pride a little. :)

Henry is always nice and calm for bath time nowadays. I can't wait til he plays in the water and can really enjoy it.

He looks so big in his tub now compared to the first few times we used it. We have to clean under all his rolls:)

Sweet snuggler

This weekend was our niece's 5th birthday, so we drove 5 hrs to Lexington, KY to be there for it along with a baseball game and 2 dance recitals. Henry did great on the drive up and was a happy boy the entire trip overall. This is us outside watching the kids in the bounce house.

Henry got passed around a lot! Luckily Grandma was there to take him inside out of the crowd and rock him to sleep!
The party was an adorable bumblebee theme, and Heather did an awesome job with all the treats and decorations! She is a party theme inspiration!

Here's Layna with her super cute cake.

Bumblebee cupcakes!

Cake pops-everyone's favorite!
Who doesn't love a bite sized morsel of cake covered in chocolate and placed on a handy stick? I'm a fan. Almost too cute to eat. Almost.

More great black and yellow decor!

The party favor baskets-even Henry got one with his own bumblebee teether in it!

This pic turned out fuzzy, but it was another bumblebee shaped treat-too cute!

Oreos-bumblebee style

Yellow and black yogurt covered pretzels!

Next we went to the ball field to catch Camden's game. Who's that cute little bumblebee?? Heather's dress it the perfect backdrop!:) You can see some of those rolls I was talking about earlier!

Isn't this a great picture? What handsome guys.

And we're not a bad looking group either!

Henry and Heather love each other:)

And he loves to talk to his Grandma!

Future baseball player? He was looking for his big cuz out there!

Getting sleepy....

No rest for the weary-we had too much to do! Next we went to Layna's dance recital. She did great!

It was 2 hrs long and Henry just sat like this the whole time....he was mesmerized by all the lights and action up there!

Cute 5 year old dancer! We went to dinner after this and then back again to see Kaia's recital. Henry watched it the whole time as well! I accidentally didn't take the camera in the second time, but Kaia did awesome!! She even got to go back up again at the end because she made the splits club, so she got a special medal. Way to go, Kaia!
