Feel the Burn!

This is from when Henry was 3 weeks...I forgot to put it with his 3 week post. Here he is during some tummy time. Steven put the caption "Feel the Burn" on it. He looks like he is concentrating so hard and doing some serious push ups here! ha, ha!

One Month

I can't believe our Henry is one month old. It has been a great month and has flown by. I keep telling people that having an infant is more fun than I thought it would be. I just saw the eat, sleep, poop, repeat side of infancy, but I failed to realize how fun the snugly, cuddly, sweet side of it would be! Everyday I feel like we learn Henry's personality a little bit more, and that is such a neat thing to experience. As of right now, he seems like a pretty laid back fellow, but certainly has his times where he lets you know his preference in a situation (sound like anyone else you know??).

He sleeps a good 4-5 hour stretch the first part of the night, but the second part of the night his sleep is a little more restless (eyes are closed, but he is making all kinds of baby noises). He is nursing well, and I love to watch him while he eats. He works hard at it, and his little body is so cute all cuddled up to eat. He goes 3 hours during the day between feedings, except in the evenings when he eats a little closer together. I like to think he is storing up for the night! If he has fussy times, they are usually in the evenings. He sleeps a lot during the day (once he is out, he is out), but he also has what seems like a lot of awake time where he is bright eyed and looks all around. He makes funny faces and checks out the world-usually for over an hour if he is in that "curious" mode. He follows us with his eyes and has great hearing...he will turn his head toward our voices and sometimes jumps when there is a startling noise around. He does not seem to mind tummy time and works really hard to lift his neck. It seems like he can hold it up for a really long time! Once he is done with tummy time, though, he is done. And he lets us know about it.

Henry is still in newborn clothes, but I think he will be out of them soon. They are getting kind of short on him. He gets lots of hiccups and sneezes throughout the day. So far, bath time is not his very favorite thing, but I am certain that will change as he gets older! His eyes have turned from that dull  gray/blue of infancy to a very pretty true blue now. He still has quite a bit of hair...especially in the back! He has tried a pacifier and a bottle during this first month and has done well with both.

Okay, those are all the random notes for now. Your Daddy and I love you, Henry! We can't wait to experience month 2 (and 3 and 4 and 5 and.....) with you!

Week Four

This week does not have nearly as many photos as in the weeks past! Hmmm...may that is because it is just me now?? We DID have a busy week, I just failed to take pictures! I made my first Wal-mart run with Henry on Monday and the neighbors had us for dinner (SO nice!!). I visited PCS and my class and introduced them to Henry on Tuesday. They were thrilled, and I loved seeing them, too! On Wednesday, my mom made an impromptu visit on her way down to the cabin and stayed with us one night. She snuggled with Henry and we ran a few errands. On Thursday we went to the Botanical Gardens with my friend Jessica and her 2 kids.  The flowers are blooming and it was beautiful! In the afternoon my friend from TN was in town and came by to meet Henry. Henry and I went to a baby shower for a friend on Saturday and on Sunday we went to church. That afternoon Henry had his first experience at the driving range! He was in the baby bjorn, but Steven and I both swore it was like he was watching. He had his head up and when I turned away, Henry craned his neck around to see Steven every time! :) It was pretty cute. We've been taking advantage of the beautiful weather with lots of walks this week, too. See below for a few pics.

Henry is watching Steven do some work from home. He was staring him down!:)

This is my friend Laura from high school and her cutie son Levi who visited this week. When Laura held Henry, she said, "I can't believe you are Steven and Kelly's baby. I remember when I met your Daddy. He had long hair and played in a band. Are your parents going to let you have long hair and play in a band?" Hmmmm.....good question, Laura! If Henry turns out as well as Steven did, then I say, "Sure! Why not?"

My mom holding Henry out back...we had beautiful weather!!

Uh, oh. Mom's eyes are closed. Maybe that is where I get it from!
This is the guys "watching" golf on TV Sunday afternoon. Henry, you have already learned that golf is the very best background noise to lull you to sleep on a Sunday afternoon. It works every time! :)

Week Three

Aunt Heather came to visit us and help out from Sunday night through Wednesday morning. She got in some Henry time and let me get some great naps! She also cooked, cleaned, and helped me organize. On Monday morning we went to Henry's 2 week doctor's appt. It was great having help from Heather! Henry was healthy and weighed 7lbs 14oz which the doc was pleased with. He had to get blood drawn (again!) and his belly button cauterized, but other than that it was uneventful! We are thankful for such a healthy boy.

Angry mouse during this bath time!

A little happier after bath time is over

Aunt Heather can be the official nail trimmer from now on!

He found his thumb!

Mohawk man!

We tried a little photo shoot while Heather was here. It was fun to play around with the camera and an infant!

Duck outfit complete with duck stuffed animal!

Heather saw this cute idea on pinterest-we are going to try again when he gets a little older and has some head control!:)

When it was all over, he had Cheerio dust all over him! Good thing he is not allergic!

Sweet baby!

We love you, Henry.

Tiny toes! Another pinterest idea.

Henry says, "My Auntie IS awesome! Don't go!" So does his mamma!

When Henry is out, he is out! BIG stretch on his changing pad.

So funny when he puts his hands behind his head on his own as if to say, "Ahhh. It doesn't get much better than this!"

On Thursday Henry went to his very first play date! It was St. Patrick's Day themed, so we were suppose to wear green! There were two other infants there...Juliet on the left was born a week after Henry and Kailin on the right was born three weeks before Henry. He looks like a ladies' man in between these two girls doesn't he?!:)

Henry and me in our St. Patty's day green heading to play group!

I love this picture of him looking right at the camera. This is the look we get A LOT!

Henry took his first paci on Thursday night and that went well for a few days, although he is now not interested in it and spits it out . Then on Friday Steven gave him his first bottle! He sucked it down in no time flat.

On Saturday my friend Dianne came by with her two girls Meredith and Camille. They are expecting a little brother in May and wanted to come check out tiny baby Henry to help prepare for their own bundle soon!

Week Two

Our second week home, Steven went back to work:( Luckily, though, we had family who were more than willing to come help me out! My mom came Monday-Wednesday. She cuddled Henry and cleaned, cleaned, cleaned. Thanks Mom!! Above is after bath time one evening.

Tummy time! Henry mainly sleeps during this, but when he is fully awake he will raise his head and work hard with those neck muscles! He lasts several minutes before getting fed up with it.

My mom with Henry

We walked one afternoon...Henry cried at the beginning, was fine in the middle, and cried at the end. You better get used to it, Little Man! This is the first of many neighborhood walks!
We had lots of wonderful visitors who came to see Henry...above is Georgia who came over with her mom Julie.

We also had lots of meals brought our way which was SOOOOO awesome! I didn't snap as many photos as I wanted, but tried to get the kid visitors with Henry. Above is Jordan, Jaden, and Caitlin with their mom Rachel.

Steven holding his TWO babies!

Henry chillin' with his pup.

The family outside the house in front of the "Congratulations! It's a BOY! Asbury Baby" sign.

Steven's mom came to help Wednesday-Friday. She cleaned, cleaned, cleaned, and chauffeured me all around to do errands since I still was not suppose to drive. Henry had his first out to eat experiences at Chick-fil-A and Panera while she was here.

Steven playing guitar for Henry...Earth Angel and some Smashing Pumpkins if I remember correctly:) He will have a well rounded musical repertoire if we have anything to say about it!

This is Henry in one of his only pair of newborn pants outfits! This night (Thurs) we went to small group for the first time. He did well!

On Sunday 3-11-12, when Henry was 2 weeks old, we went to church...I was worn out, but we did it!! :) Henry slept through Alan's message. Shhhh...don't tell the preacher!

Week One

We headed home from the hospital on Tuesday 2/28

Showing Henry his house!

Maggie meeting Henry!

Maggie has done great with Henry-mostly ignoring him, but sometimes checking him out like this as if to say, "Wow, guys. This is a lot of responsibility for one dog!"

Stiffing her little brother

We went on our first family outing on Thursday to Walgreens!:) Henry and Steven waited in the car, but I got out and grabbed a few items!
Looking so tiny in his bassinet!

A photo op outside.

A visit from our neighbors...Ryan, Robin, and Bennett!

First bath!

Bath time was a wee bit stressful, but we got through it.

Ahh! Bath time is over...much better!

All snuggled and ready for bed.

Chillin' with my baby man. We say his hair is all business in the front....

and a party in the back!

On Sunday, we had visitors! Jim and Peggy came for the afternoon to get their fill of Henry time.

My brother brought his three kids to meet their new cousin...here is Emma and Mary Ellen with Henry.

And here are the two nephews...George and Henry. What classic names!
