Brisk Me Away

Week of 7/1

All of our family left on Sunday except for Heather and Layna. We got a little extra time with them  which was so much fun! The rest of the week/weekend was spent just hanging out around the house. Wednesday was Henry's first 4th of July! We spent it grilling out with neighbors, and I am so mad at myself that I forgot to take a picture! Don't worry, though, he wore like 10 different red, white, and blue throughout the week to commemorate the occasion! No fireworks for him this year, though! He was in bed before those started!:)
Layna loved our little pool....a girl after my own heart!

Let's just say that Layna kept Henry very entertained!:)

This is Henry's first time in a float! He seemed pretty relaxed!

Aunt Heather keeps Henry well supplied with "Aunt" clothing! This is the latest addition!

We did some shopping and eating out while they were here (Heather is also a girl after my own heart!). I bought these infant sunglasses for Henry thinking they looked so tiny in the package. When I put them on him, though, they were huge! :)

Henry loves his Aunt Heather!

Henry and Layna one morning:)

Here is Henry with a new toy...he is so much more into toys these days! This one just kind of made him mad, though, because there was nothing he could really suck on.:) Since this initial meeting he has started to like this ball a little better. Oh, check out that belly!:)

We shopped at Bridge Street one day....Layna certainly enjoyed the fountains!

Layna kept Henry very entertained...she read to him, held him, talked to him, and even pretended to be different animals for him. What a good cousin!

Chick-fil-A makes everyone smile!

This is the only picture I got on the 4th...Henry is looking all tuckered out after having company for 10 days solid. Thanks for visiting, everyone!
Kind of funny, Steven took this picture the next day after I had taken the one above....we both were noticing separately how big he is looking in his seat, I guess! And Henry is grasping his current favorite toy. Monchichi the monkey provides lots of entertainment!!
Henry loves to stick his tongue out lately!
This is his current favorite game (or maybe it is MY current favorite game!)...I fake him out by getting his neck, chin, or cheeks, and he tries to eat whatever it is coming toward him. It is funny how many times he will do this:)
We caught another current happening in Henry's life...bubble blowing!
And drooling!
He is still liking the Johnny Jumper!
Just hanging out!
And last but not least, Henry has officially found his feet this week! He tries to get them into his mouth, but I think he takes after Steven's flexibility....you may have to give it up, Henry!
It is fun to try, anyway!
He has also started sucking on the washcloth...this makes him very happy!:)

Week of 6/24, Part 2

Here are the rest of the pictures from the week!
Henry normally wakes up around 8sih, but one day he woke up at 6:30 and was bright eyed and bushy tailed! I hated to try to get him back to sleep, so we just went downstairs and played instead. He was just so happy...he was feeling spry! Normally he tolerates tummy time, but this particular morning he was craning his neck around and looking at everything as if he actually enjoyed it! I had fun taking pictures of my smiley baby. :)

He finally laid his head down to rest his neck, but just kept right on smiling!

This picture captures a little bit of what he does all the time with his bottom lip now...it is either sucked in or poking out. He is constantly blowing bubbles and making noises with is mouth these days.

We put up the Johnny Jumper while my mom was here and he seemed to like it! He mostly just sucks on the edge of it at this point, but will occasionally play with a toy as you can see above.

My dad came a couple of times during the week to visit...Henry is looking so LONG on his papa!

This is a great one of him in the car...we were on our way to get a professional cousins photo taken (which turned out great by the way!). Henry does this a lot with his hands-each finger is perfectly intertwined, then he puts the whole thing to his mouth to suck on it!

Steven's family came in for the weekend to celebrate Camden's 10th bday and to be there for Henry's dedication on Sunday. Even though it was super hot out, we still had a great time all together.

Henry is lucky to have such good readers as cousins!

Grandpa, Peggy, Kaia, Henry, and Maggie...we grilled out Saturday night and had cookie cake and more homemade ice cream for Camden's bday!

Camden is a huge baseball fan and one of his requests every birthday is to have a big family baseball game....how can you say no to that?! So even in the 100 degree weather at 8 o'clock at night, we all headed out to a nearby baseball field and played a few innings!
Here is the winning team...above the kiosk to prove how hot it was!

You'll be playing baseball soon enough, little man!
This face on Henry makes me laugh!

It was so special to have all of our family together on Sunday for Henry's dedication. It is a day we will always remember, and it will be neat to talk to him about it when he gets old enough to look at pictures. We are so thankful to have such a Godly heritage to pass down to Henry.

Steven's aunt Sara made his outfit....it was perfect!!

We love you, Henry, and are so excited to teach you about God. We look forward to the day when you claim Him as Savior!

Here is Henry telling papa all about it!

We had lunch after church back at our house...Aunt Heather helped me decorate Henry's cake! Thanks again, everyone, for being part of this special day!

Week of 6/25, part one

Wow!! Time is flying by, and I am way behind on my weekly blog update! I like to blog weekly, because it helps me keep our life a little organized somehow. I feel like I can look back and get good perspective on what is happening in our lives. Otherwise, it feels kind of like life is happening to us and I missed it somehow. I am not the best with remembering little stuff, so maybe this is my way to reconcile that!
Anyway, last week and weekend was busy, busy, busy! We had some part of our family staying with us for 10 days straight! It was lots of fun, and Hank got some serious attention. :) We have such a wonderful family who wants to be involved in his life. It is truly a blessing! See below for some of the events of the first part of this past week!
SOOO...our week started with my mom and Henry's 3 cousins coming in for the week to attend our church's VBS. I had suggested this early in the summer after hearing how fun Asbury's VB sounded, and they decided to take me up on it! It sounded like they had a great time! Above is the girls making cupcakes for the volunteers at VBS.

Little man had a blast with everyone here. He was thoroughly entertained....even in the bath tub!

We three happened to be sportin' the yellow all at the same time, so I had to get a photo. My mom was awesome to watch Henry quite a bit while she was here. I think she enjoyed the time with just him while the kids attended VBS each morning.

Emma (10) loved to entertain Henry!

This one is kind of dark, but you can see Henry and my mom chattin it up!

Daddy spending some one on one time with the baby man...you gotta fight for it with a bunch of people in the house!

We tried to keep the kiddos entertained in the afternoons, too! On Monday they went to a movie, on Tuesday we went to the Madison County Nature Trail, on Wednesday I took them to Point Mallard, and on Thursday my mom took them ice skating! Above is from the nature trail trip.

Wearing Grandma's sunhat! It was beautiful at the nature trail...even on a ridiculously hot day we enjoyed the rocking chairs, took a picnic lunch, took a hike around the lake, and George even fished some!

I finally got a picture of the pouty lip!! Henry has poked out his bottom lip before crying ever since he was itty bitty. It is pitiful looking and gets him lots of sympathy points. We always ask, "Who taught you to do that??"

The Nature Trail has some great photo opps!

Henry started out on the hike awake....but that did not last long! He was asleep for the majority of it, so that meant his mommy was carrying around a 15 pound sack of potatoes during the walk!

cousins!

George finally held Henry:) I got proof!

There is a tiny outdoor chapel at the trail...so cool! Mary Ellen thinks she wants to get married there someday!:)

Manar (this is what the kids call my mom) and her 4 grand kids!

Henry loves his manar!

After hiking we all came back to the house and grilled out. Steven made homemade ice cream-a great summertime tradition that we introduced to Henry!

Henry was a spectacle getting his bath:) The girls and manar wanted to be a part of it....you just can't get any privacy when you bathe in the kitchen!

Emma and Mary Ellen each took a foot and leg to suds up!

This looks like Henry is saying, "Really? Are you sure this is ok, Mom?"
