Brisk Me Away

Last week Henry officially started sleeping through the night, so this week we transitioned him into his own crib in his room. He had no problem, but Steven and I were the ones who struggled with it a little bit! It just seemed like such a big boy thing to do!:) I do love that he is getting a real schedule now, though.
Henry continues to change and grow. He makes eye contact more and more and follows us around the room with his eyes. Like all babies, he has an infatuation with fans and lights-he just stares and stares at them. He smiles all the time and coos and talks. He also easily finds the TV/computer, so we have to watch that! We introduced the Bumbo this week which adds a whole new element to his world!
Yesterday I got to celebrate my first Mother's Day. This time last year if you had told me that I would be doing that, I would have said NO WAY!! I am loving being Henry's mom, though, and wouldn't change it for the world!. :)

Church friends Cheryl and baby boy Nathaniel came to visit us this week! Nathaniel is 12 days older than Henry, so it was fun to catch up with Cheryl and "compare notes" about our boys! Maybe they will be good friends!
I

Henry loves his baby Bjorn and Moby wrap...anytime he is upset I can put him in one or the other and he calms right down and usually goes to sleep. He especially seems to love when I unload the dishwasher with him in it. This boy definitely likes to move it, move it! On Friday, we went on our first hike with Henry. He slept the whole time while Steven had him in the Bjorn. I forgot to take a picture, but it was a beautiful day!!

This looks like we are having cuddly mommy/Henry time, but in all reality Henry is just grinning and grinning at the photographer....his Daddy!

It's okay, though. I will take what I can get!

What a sweet baby:)

I usually put blankets in the Bumbo so Henry can stay upright in it, but he was doing so great this time that he didn't need anything!

Big smile! He must like it!

It is funny how tiny he looks in this, and all at the same time he looks so big being able to sit there.

About to head out for our daily stroll with neighbors...in case we forget Henry's name, it is on his shirt. :)

I mentioned Henry is loosing his hair-and I wasn't kidding! He has a serious old man look going on! It is just so funny how he has the bald strip in the middle and right below he has all that hair. It will be interesting to see how it turns out!
Maggie was funny...we had Henry in his Bumbo sitting right there and she weaseled her way in between the sofa and him. She started licking his foot and Henry stared at her.:) They're a pair!
BIG DOG/little baby

I had a great 1st Mother's day...here's me with my sweet little man wearing the necklace I requested as my gift. Henry shops well! :) The circle has his name and birth date on it. It was rainy and dreary outside, so we had a relaxing day of church, lunch, naps....spending time together was just right.

As I started looking at the pictures below, I began to realize how **BIG** Henry is looking. It's not just me-he really IS growing! Several things happened this week. For one, Henry started officially sleeping through the night!! And when I say he is sleeping through the night, I don't mean a piddly 5 hours. He has been sleeping 7.5-8.5 hours each night consistently for the past week (about 10PM-6AM give or take), and I think he is going to keep it up. He also had a doctor's check-up and looked great! He weighed 11 lbs and 12 oz (50th percentile) and was 24 inches long (90th percentile). Henry and I also made our first trip to TN alone and proved to me that we CAN overnight with an infant-we had a great trip! There was one more big event that happened over the weekend.....what was it....oh, yeah! I had a birthday. And not just any birthday...I turned 30!! I had lots of fun celebrating. Enjoy the pictures below!
My grandmother, who just turned 89 herself, had not met Henry yet. I got to go by the assisted living facility and show him off.

Grandmother seemed to really connect-it was so cute to watch her hold Henry and talk baby talk to him. I guess that mothering instinct does not fade!

Four generations!

Next, we traveled to Steven's mom's house where we met Heather and the kids. They were excited to see and hold Henry.

Henry loves talking to his Aunt Heather!

The cousins are so cute with Henry-giving him lots of love. Here Henry is not as accepting of the love. He tried to turn away, but I guess he wasn't quick enough!

Kaia loved just sitting beside Henry. He is looking so big in this picture. So is Kaia!

Talking with Grandma
Just chillin'

Sweet baby

Henry fell asleep and we put him on this pink pig neck pillow. Hence the tail!
Friday was SUPER hot, but we found some shade and got out for a few minutes.

I like this picture-both kids are seriously concentrating on the task at hand!

More serious concentration!

Everyone kept commenting on how Henry keeps his toes curled all the time. Maybe it was his way of coping with all the interaction over the weekend!

Good job, Camden!

What cute kids!

Friday night we went to my parent's house. Here is Henry with Papa and checking out his Uncle Lee over his shoulder. Henry thought he was a weird looking dude, and we all agreed-ha, ha! Also in this picture you can see Henry is seriously loosing some hair! He has the old man look going on for sure. We kept finding his hair in the car seat, on his hands, and you could even see it on the sheet after picking him up off the bed! Don't worry, Henry. We all think you are still cute. :)

Papa, Grandmother, and cousin Emma...who let that baby on the table!?

Henry also kept sucking on his fingers...he has done that all week. Here is mom trying to help him out! He can't quite get it, though.

On Saturday we got a visit in with my Aunt Brenda. She is recovering from breast cancer and is doing great. We were so happy she was able to come to my folks' house to check out Henry. I have lots of fun memories at my Aunt Brenda's as a kid, so I am so glad Henry got to meet her...I better watch out, though, because Aunt Brens will spoil him in an instant!

Emma helped make my yummy birthday cake!

About to partake....of some cake!

Cousins

Once we got back from TN on Saturday, Steven, Henry, and I headed out for some birthday dinner! We put Henry in his "Manny" shirt since it WAS Cinco de Mayo after all! But, we avoided the crowds at Mexican restaurants and went for Japanese instead per my request. YUM!
On Sunday we had a few folks over for a Mexican potluck to fill the void of not getting Mexican food on my actual b-day. Fern was a hit with the kids.

Chloe and Sarah...cute girls!

Henry, Steven, and friend Devon

Nikki, Bennett, Robin, and Reannin. Look how cute Bennett is trying to smile like Nikki! It was a great party. Thanks everyone!

Last week was good one! Henry is growing like a weed and getting more and more fun! After looking through previous posts, I am realizing that I must be the primary picture taker since I am hardly in any photos! I've gotta do better about that! See below for some of the week's events.
Henry will tolerate his play mat for a little bit...I still think he'd rather look at the fan, though! He doesn't seem all that interested in the toys hanging above him, but when Maggie comes by to check him out he is definitely interested in her!

We all got a kick out of Brad changing Chloe's diaper. She was just as happy as could be while Brad was less than amused:)

Ben and Melanie made this beautiful apple pie-it was so pretty I just had to take a picture!

Fern got to get out for a visit-Allie and Connor loved him!

We put Chloe and Henry together and there was, ahem, a little bit of a size difference! Chloe does have 7 months on Henry, but it was still quite funny!

Lookin' good Sarah and Jeremy! You guys are awfully patient to hang out with this bunch!

Henry after bath one night-he has gotten to where he is talking a lot when we put him on his changing pad.

Wide eyed wonder!

Talking to Daddy.

Listening to Grandma....she came for a visit Friday night. We went to dinner and shopped some at Bridge Street where the adults bought nothing but Henry racked up!:) Baby clothes are just TOO cute to resist. Steven and I actually left Henry with Grandma late Friday night to get dessert and then again on Saturday to run a few quick errands. He was in great hands, and I didn't worry a bit about him!

Stretch it out, Little Man! Henry can stretch for like 15 minutes after a nap sometimes! Grandma thought this was pretty funny....it IS good entertainment!

Grandma and Henry
We went to a cookout on Saturday night that was lots of fun...here is Henry "standing" in the grass. We said this might have been his very first encounter with grass! We see lots of grass stains in your future, little boy!

More "standing"...he loves it. I was trying to get a picture of his adorable baby New Balance shoes that Aunt Heather gave him. They are still too big, but we put them on to show Grandpa and Peggy who came for a visit on Sunday.

Oh, no. Crying! Grandpa and Daddy don't like that!

Aaah. Much better. Three generations-lookin' good!!
